Kim Ogburn

KIM OGBURN: Born in San Diego, a graduate of La Jolla High School. Attended San Diego Mesa College and City College, resulting in a degree in Fine Art 3D. A lifelong tradesman, and a General Contractor since 1980.

He recently finished a 5 year project building the ILAN-LAEL ART AND NATURE CENTER, designed and mentored by JAMES HUBBELL. It’s located on his magical acreage in San Diego’s mountains close to Julian. Kim had his first success in public art creating an “Urban Tree” named SEA LEVEL. It showed 14 months at San Diego’s Embarcadero and is now on permanent display in the City of Coronado at the Boat House and Clubroom Facility.

His sculptures are designed to be peace filled, entertaining, inviting and interactive sculpture. Nature Subjects and Fantasy Themes that are familiar and attractive to the viewers and patrons. The most recent piece in his “Sculptural Seating” series is named UNI-TWO-CORN. It’s a bench you sit on the flowing manes of two Unicorns that make the backrest. A joyful fantasy photo opportunity. It’s debut will be at the SAN DIEGO FAIR 2018, June 1 to July 4, in front of the FINE ARTS EXHIBIT HALL. Follow Kim Ogburn on instagram @canyonsculptor for progress shots of the UNI-TWO-CORN and all his other interactive and kinetic sculpture.
